brennenstuhl®Connect Zigbee

brennenstuhl®Connect Zigbee: New possibilities for your Smart Home with radio standard Zigbee

In the Smart Home, we frequently come across another term: Zigbee. Many ask: "What do you need Zigbee for?" and "What is a Zigbee Hub?". The answers are simple. Zigbee is a radio standard, or radio technology. It is therefore used for communication between components via radio protocol.

To use the Zigbee radio standard, a central unit is needed, which is also called a bridge, hub or gateway, depending on the manufacturer. The Zigbee gateway is the bridge between the WLAN router and Zigbee devices. Then other devices that network via the Zigbee radio protocol can be integrated into your brennenstuhl®Connect Smart Home.

What is Zigbee? And is Zigbee compatible with Amazon Alexa & Google Assistant?

Zigbee is a radio standard that connects different devices with each other over short distances - the radio range is up to 20 metres, depending on the power and the environment. The radio standard is needed to enable low energy consumption and battery operation.

Unlike the brennenstuhl®Connect WiFi products, brennenstuhl®Connect Zigbee products communicate with the brennenstuhl®Connect Zigbee gateway via radio protocol. However, this does not cause any disadvantages, the smart Zigbee product can be operated via app or voice control like all other brennenstuhl®Connect Smart Home products.

Why does the brennenstuhl®Connect radiator thermostat need Zigbee?

Due to its low energy requirements, Zigbee radio technology is the ideal standard for battery-operated Smart Home devices, such as the brennenstuhl®Connect Zigbee radiator thermostat HT CZ 01. This means that the thermostat can communicate by radio for up to a year, even in hard-to-reach places, without the need to change the battery.

Installation is uncomplicated as usual and control via app on the smartphone or tablet is possible without extensive further configuration.

Another advantage: If several radiator thermostats are installed, a stable, energy-saving network can also be set up with brennenstuhl®Connect Zigbee gateways distributed in different locations.
